Robina's Green Fields wins industry award
Green Fields Bar + Restaurant at TAFE Queensland's Robina campus won the South East Queensland 'Contemporary Australian Restaurant – Informal Dining' award at the 2024 Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence.
Since its establishment in 2022, Green Fields has distinguished itself as a unique dining experience, where sustainability inspires every dish, showcasing the quality of its thoughtfully sourced produce.
At the helm, restaurant manager Andrew Scerri expressed his pride.
“This industry recognition is a testament to our dedicated team’s hard work in creating memorable dining experiences, I could not be prouder,” said Andrew.
Chef Django Russell shared his excitement about the award.
“I’m thrilled about this recognition! We knew the restaurant was consistently busy, we have been getting great reviews and that was a sign we were doing a lot of things right,” said Chef Django.
“Honestly, I didn’t expect to win, just being nominated was an achievement in itself. I’m incredibly proud of my team, they’ve worked extraordinarily hard this year, always with a smile on their face,” he said.
Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) assessed restaurants on food, beverage, service, and presentation.
Along with paid industry professionals and hospitality workers, TAFE Queensland students have the opportunity to undertake work experience in the restaurant, giving them hands-on training and the essential skills necessary to excel in their future careers
“Our patrons love knowing their support helps our students gain the real-world experience needed to succeed in the industry,” Andrew added.
“Dining at Green Fields is more than just savouring exceptional food and service; it becomes a tangible contribution to the development of the next generation of culinary and hospitality experts,” he said.
With the industry acclaim, Green Fields has cemented its status as a unique culinary gem on the Gold Coast, alongside other winners like Miss Moneypenny’s Broadbeach, Little Truffle Mermaid Beach, and Georges on Sorrento.
