Bora Bora Study Tour at TAFE Queensland

It's not just about the destination; it's about the journey of learning, growth, and global connections.

The Bora Bora Study Tour is a program that recently brought students from Campus des Métiers et des Qualifications hôtellerie restauration du Pacifique Bora Bora to TAFE Queensland.

"A study tour is when a group of students undertake short-term study in a concentrated time frame with TAFE Queensland from abroad, typically lasting around two to four weeks," explains Marty Lock, Manager of International Engagement and Communications at TAFE Queensland International Education.

"These study tours are designed to provide participants with a focused learning experience that includes practical training and an opportunity to immerse themselves in a new environment," he continued.

"Study tours also act as a learning experience for the teachers who accompany the students. TAFE Queensland teachers and study tour teachers have an opportunity to swap teaching methods and techniques, allowing students to experience a different culture and educational system. In turn, this encourages them to recommend the institution to others who might consider studying abroad," said Marty.

"The Bora Bora Study Tour aimed to provide these students with a unique opportunity to enhance their skills in hospitality, cookery, and English language proficiency. It's more than just a learning experience; it's a testament to the strong partnerships between Australia and the Pacific."

"Study tours are not limited to classroom learning. Students also get the chance to apply what they've learned in the industry."

"The students from Bora Bora engaged in a variety of activities during their two-week study tour, including training with TAFE Queensland and hands-on experience in the industry. This practical training was invaluable, as it allowed them to work in hotel partnerships, learn about safety requirements, and explore different aspects of the hospitality and tourism industry."

Marty underlines that "This program enhances skills across the Pacific region, contributing to the growth of the Oceania region." He continues, "By combining Australia's expertise in hospitality and training with Pacific destinations like Bora Bora, these study tours offer the promise of better experiences for international tourists and, in turn, a boost in economic opportunities."

The Bora Bora Study Tour is a great example of how TAFE Queensland is not only committed to offering excellent education but also to nurturing global partnerships and skills development. The impact is not limited to just the students; it extends to the institutions and communities, promoting education and cultural exchange. Marty ends with, "It's an investment in the future of education, tourism, and regional development."
