Animal studies

Turn your love for animals into a career. Develop the skills to care for a variety of animals, as well as an understanding of the administration and business side of the industry.

About animal studies

Australians are increasingly treating their pets as members of the family which is driving demand for grooming, training, boarding, walking, and minding services. The trend is set to continue with Australians spending an estimated $8 billion per year on products and services for their pets.

The animal services industry covers a range of roles working with dogs, cats, birds and native wildlife. Our animal studies courses include animal nutrition, hygiene, care, health and grooming, as well as the business and administration side of the industry. You’ll also gain animal handling and customer service skills in our open to the public dog-grooming centre.

Set yourself up for a hands-on career working with animals as a dog groomer or veterinary assistant, or work in a range of roles in pet shops, aquariums, catteries, kennels, training centres, animal shelters, or wildlife centres.
