Course overview

Embark upon a career in make-up and turn your passion for making people look and feel great, into a career in the thriving beauty industry. Train at TAFE Queensland, and our industry connected teachers will guide, develop and refine your make-up skills to gain that professional edge.

According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, the beauty therapy industry is currently experiencing very strong growth with around 25,000 job openings expected over the next five years. Employers are looking for qualified candidates who are reliable, well presented, and interact well with others.

During this course you will learn make-up application techniques from foundation skills through to advanced techniques such as photographic, airbrushing, remedial camouflage and creative makeup. Collaboration with hair stylists, photographers, beauty therapists and other make-up artists while training at TAFE Queensland will further enhance your skills to tint lashes and brows, apply eye lash extensions, and create the perfect tanned look for your clients for special occasions, photo shoots, and more.

Successful completion of the course will qualify you to work as a make-up artist as part of a team or on a freelance basis in settings such as make-up studios, retail cosmetic counters, fashion and media sets, and photography studios.
